Abstract:

Patent is usually associated with monopoly rents. We show that it can also contribute to the generation of Ricardian or Schumpeterian rents. It is therefore also a useful strategic tool in a context of hypercompetition. Finally, we try to link the environmental context of firms, their strategy and the roles of patent while underlining the complexity of such potential relations.
